الجامعة هى ضمان تأييد المجتمع ومساندته فإن عليها أن تعمل على خدمته وأن تأخذ التغيرات الاجتماعية فى اعتبارها عند تحديد أهدافها ووظائفها وعند رسم سياساتها وتحديد علاقاتها، ومن خلال الأدوار التى تقوم بها الجامعة يتضح لنا مدى علاقتها بتنمية المجتمع وذلک بما تقدمه الجامعة ووظائفها الثلاث : (التدريس أو التعليم ، البحث العلمى ، خدمة المجتمع) ، فعن طريق التدريس أو التعليم يتم نشر الثقافة بين الأجيال ويتم غرس وقيم مجتمعهم مع مواکبة التغيير للوصول إلى التقدم والحضارة بين الأمم ، أما البحث العلمى فيحاول يعرض بعض مشاکل المجتمع مع عرض الحلول المثلى لها ومن خلال هذه الوظيفتين يتضح لنا أنهم جميعا يسهموا فى خدمة المجتمع فهذين الوظيفتين سبباً رئيساً فى رقى وتقدم المجتمع ،  ولقد ظهرت الوحدات ذات الطابع الخاص لکى تخدم وتحقق أهداف هذه الوظيفة. فهذه الوحدات تسهم فى حل الکثير من المشکلات سواء کانت اقتصادية أو اجتماعية فتعمل على مواجهة قلة الموارد المالية وذلک من أجل النهوض بالعملية التعليمية والبحثية والتى من شأنها خدمة المجتمع .
Abstract :
  The university is to ensure the support of the society and its support, it must work to serve it and take social changes into account when determining its objectives and functions and in the design of its policy and determine its relationship, and through the roles played by the university it is clear to us show it relates to the development of society and what the university offers and its three functions : (or education, scientific research, community service), through teaching or education, culture is disseminated between generations and the values of their society are instilled with the change to achieve progress and civilization among the nations the scientific research attempts to present some problems of society, for these function is clear to us vhen Alozftin a major cause in the progress of society and promoted, special units have emerged to serve and achieve the objective of this function . these units contribute to the solution of many problems, whether economic or social, working to meet the lack of financial resources in order to promote the process of education and research, which will serve the community
